Decembrrr at the Compound

George found this online at Canoe to share.

Environment Canada, says temperatures in the Edmonton area early Sunday morning were among the coldest anywhere in the country. The mercury dipped to a frigid —46C at the Edmonton airport, making it the coldest place in Canada.
With the wind chill, it felt more like —59C.
It crushed the same day coldest temperature record of about —33C set in 1968.

For those of you that noticed a blue horse in the corral, I had to blanket Sage for a while. He doesn’t grow quite the same coat that Coach does. The trick was to warm him up but keep him dry. I swapped blankets four times on Sunday. My fingers were so cold with the tying and untying.

We also had overnight guests in the Balehouse Friday and Saturday nights. The loft sleepers reported it was a comfortable sleep. But Josh, who slept on the ground floor and manned the stove, pulled the futon/sofa closer and closer to fire as the night progressed. It’s good to know the balehouse has now been well tested. We sure do need to split more wood. The two nights have nearly emptied all the bins.

For the faithful blog followers who have noticed they could not leave comments. We had been hit by spambots and I turned off the commenting feature. But we should be safe now and I’ve got the comments on again. Tell me more about your mother…

    What about my momma????

The balehouse was dandy. Adam said he had a warmer sleep than in his apartment in The Hat (although this might be more an indictment of his apartment than an endorsement of the Balehouse).
