I’m working away in my office, and as usual the animals are with me. I’m not sure if they figure they’re babysitting me or vice versa. It’s a small room so Mulder seldom does more than stop by and snooze for a few minutes before padding down the hallway to his mat. That’s where he can conveniently be in everyone’s way, all at once. Most efficient.
I heard a strange noise, not a banging or a knocking, but something inbetween. Levi is asleep in my lap and Midge is on the chair by the window, so it isn’t them. A minute or two later I hear it again, so I figure I have to get up and find the dog. Levi was displeased, but as any self respecting cat would do, he pretended getting up was his idea and the he thought of it first.
And where was Mulder? Somehow he had gone and locked himself inside the pantry. How did he do that? The dog food is kept elsewhere so what’s the motivation here? He’s getting old, folks. Drinking from that aluminum water dish all his life, he’s got the ‘Old Timers’ disease setting in.
A noble head indeed though with a smaller brain – and perhaps one addled by age – than we all thought.
lead in the water pipes? too many hours with a cell phone in his ear?
